Home for the Holidays

Happy holidays, America. With one of the biggest holidays approaching 'Thanksgiving', my question is, is the ceerful glee of the holidays, enough to minimize the sting of our nations economic crisis.

I'm willing to bet, that in the midst of our countrys transition, that it won't effect the 'trimmings' on the table, as we all join our friends and family, for a moment of thanks.

I will post different locations, in the grater los angeles area, that will host "free turkey giveaways, as well as missions, that will prepare food, for less fortunate families, in and around Los Angeles.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

SHOCKING

Today as I was checking my email, I read the AOL headline, accompanied by a photo of a 19yo miami male.

It read "teen kills himself live on internet."

This is truly shocking, and hits very close to home.

They said the teen had cried suicide before but nothing happened.

He broadcast his death live on a site called justin.tv, in front of multiple online users, some of which who even egged him on, and encouraged the 19yo college student to keep going.

The teen took pills, that were prescribed for his bipolar disorder. He was in his fathers bedroom, with the live feed still rolling. Viewers were even able to see as the cops walked in to get the teen. Still some viewers typed 'OMFG', and 'lol', internet acronyms for 'oh my god' and 'laughing out loud'.

The authorities were contacted, when one viewer contacted the sites web person, who traced the teens location.

This is just insane. I had a younger brother, only 15 years old, who was also a victim of such an act.

What can we do about issues such as this?

How can we prevent these tragic situations, that occur, when young Americans are crying out for help?

This also reminds me of the tragic death of the young 13yo girl, who hung herself, due to cyber bullying on myspace.

These things are preventable, what will you do as an American?

When will we all stand up as Americans?

ECCO HOLLYWOOD; INDUSTRY FLOP OR SIGN OF THE TIMES

In the midst of an economic crisis, yet another Hollywood hang has emerged. Ecco Hollywood, Hollywoods first and only eco-friendly night life establishment, ran by promoter Danny B and partners.

Ecco Ultra lounge, formally known as flopped A-list club Takio, has re emerged as an pseudo celebutant hot spot.

Ecco is outfitted with state of the art LED lighting., and eco friendly material throughout. The parking is also free, if you own an energy efficient car. See prius.

At the cusp of the cahuenga corridor, Ecco ultra lounge seem's like a promising bet, but will its eco-friendly concept, have tree hugging hipsters begging for more?

With the proper theme, proper owners, and proper location, does this equal Hollywood nightlife success?

We think not. With all fundamental elements 'thought' to be in place, the timing is just off.

While we all think an eco-friendly establishment is groundbreaking, in the numbers game, it falls way short of what it could be. Change is great and all, with new President-elect Obama ready to make his own changes in the white house, ecco fares far below industry expectations.

The whole project seems rushed, and the timming is off. While the venue is aesthetically up to par, the enviorment just isn't. (No pun intended). Here's why.

With maga clubs, and mega Hospitality brand SBE, with the market pretty much by the balls, the industry just isn't ready for a club that's outfitted for tree-hugging hippies, who care about the enviorment. While it seems like the right thing to do, it's just something we can't do.

"It's a bit of a catch-22", says 23 year old Sarah, who is a philanthropy major at USC. "At the end off the day its just another club. It will minimize our carbon footprint, and parking Is free for those with hybrids, but how many off us actually own a hybrid?. The concept is different, but it doesn't necessarily facilitate a green lifestyle. It seems like a venture that's not well put together in the sense that it doesn't truly follow the 'green way'." Says the 23 year-old grad student.

It's just a club, with a label on it, will the establishment help to forward the green lifestyle that its promoting?

Or is it just another cash guzzler, with pricey drinks, and a premature concept.

What do you think?

Let us know, by emailing comments, and or concerns to the editor.

Or get on the guestlist, and chexk out the place for yourself.

This is the first time we ever cared about aour enviorment, and its not in a good way.

SOCIALISM AND IT'S ROLE IN AMERICAN HISTORY

In the recent presidential electorial debates, there was much banter about Obama, and Socialism. Here is an interesting view on Socialism, and how it's played a part in our History.

"For decades the U.S. government has handed out far more welfare benefits to big corporations than to poor people. Companies like IBM, General Electric, Boeing, and others rake in over 100 billion dollars of subsidies each year. In other words, socialism has been a prominent feature of our so-called capitalist system for a long time. Recently, Karl Marx's influence has made even deeper inroads into the American way, with the government becoming part-owner of many banks in order to keep them solvent...

Will any of this fantastic largesse be extended to us regular citizens, like maybe in the form of nationalized health care?" Is the question posed by astrologist Rob Brezny, on his site "Freewill Astrology."

I can't answer that question either.
If you'd like to pitch in on the subject, feel free to email me, or drop a comment.

CRAIGSLIST SAYS NO TO FREE SEX

Internet services site, Craigslist, has teamed up with upward to 40 state attournys, in an effort to stop prostitution on the site. Users are now required to proveide a phone number, as well as a credit card number to post an ad, in the "erotic services" section of the site.

I don't personally have any feelings about the change, I think its going to make things a bit more sane.

I think those sections, which users use for such activites as sex, should completely taken down.

What do you think???

Feel free to voice your opinion, and leave comments.

BALANCING A SENSE OF NORMALCY IN THE RAPIDLY GROWING WEB WORLD

Today I was sitting down, on my "thinking chair," and was pondering the direction of the internet in the forthcoming years. I mean the web is quickly becoming, if not already one of Americans primary sources for news, entertainment, information, and anything else you can think of.

I mean no one can doubt the fast growing developments, and many possibilities the wonderful web world offers, but things can get a bit out of hand. Literally!

I mean there's just so much, so fast. Information is great and all, but there's only so much one can take, while being bumbarded with so many different messages.

You have your blogs, your dot coms, and your social networking sites. Then it just evolves even more. With programs and apps like digg, delicious, twitter, permalink, flicker, drop.io and even widgets.

If your not staying on your net game, you could fall off.

I'm not saying all of this is a bad thing, its just a bit much.

Is this normal. I feel like were becoming robots. I mean my blackberry is pretty much my third arm (I can live on the sheer features alone). Seriously.

I predict in 2016, Americans will be able to vote via text, or RFID (radio-frequency identification), or something like that.

Obama pretty much had his internet, and tech game in place, which was a huge contributing factor in the election, as well in getting young, and more tech savvy Americans out to the polls.
They even deemed this election the first double screen election. with most of us moving back and forth from TV to computer screen.

If that's the case I would say it was a three screen election. I got a lot of the national poll results in real time via my blackberry courtesy of "Viigo".

So this is what I say to you all out there in web world.

...Step away from the screen, and just breath. The next few years will be intense.

...Exhale!

WHAT A GREAT SEGWAY!

This morning I was checking out kanye's blog, and was reading the comments(which I rearly do). As I was strolling the comments section, to see what people was saying about kanye's "Obama wins" post, this is what I stumbled across...

"Rosa Parks sat so Martin could walk, Martin walked so Obama could run, Obama is running so we could all fly"tonight i am soaring i have witnessed history! "

Pretty clever if you ask me!

Now let's fly!

LEONARDO DICAPRIO FOR OBAMA

Digg this. So I was checking out a new widget/app on my blackberry, and was trolling all the cool features.

The app in particular is called "Viggo.". It has cool rss feeds, news, and even poll results, all in real time.

So, I was checking out some of the articles there, in the entertainment section, and stumbled across this head line.

"LEO PREMIERS IN PARIS WITH OBAMA ON THE BRAIN"

""I've my fingers crossed that he will win because I think he'll make some dramatic changes in our country that we're looking for, but the rest of the world is as well." Even in a foreign country, Leo will probably be glued to the computer and TV screens like the rest of us so hopefully he knows which states to keep an eye on"

CALLING IT EARLY: OBAMA GRACES THE OVAL OFFICE

I have to. Her love has to call it asit is. Barack Obama will be the first African American presedent in our country's history.

Obama will be taking a seat to take charge, and take a stand to create change.

It's the hope that all American citizens wish for. No matter race, creed, gender, or sexual orientation.

If everyone can't see this, then what rock have we been living under.

Out with the old, and in with the new!

YOUNG BOY EVOKES CONTROVERSY OVER JESUS COSTUME

Besides all the madness of the most popular presidential mask this past Halloween. One headline has stired quite a controversy.

A young boy who chose to dress as "Jesus", for halloween was dismissed from his school, and was told that he was being disruptive to the educational process.

No other students were dismissed.

I don't believe it should have been handled this way. I think this is a prime example of religion vs education.

But its all in good light. I guess the school forgot it was Halloween.

Another more familiar icon also chose to dress up as a religious figure. Diddy, decided to dress up as "The Pope", and also had four alter boys following him, blessing everyone they passed.

Sounds like people are adding a religious flare, in the midst of our hard economic times.

So I guess a higher faith does trump all.

HOLLY WOOD HOTSPOT, FOXTAIL LAYS DOWN THE SKINNY

Hollywood hot spot "foxtail", owned and operated by Mega nightlife and hospitality brand SBE, has been slapped with a lawsuite from one of their female bartender's.

The bartender has filed an complaint that she was moved to the kitchen, after she was told that she was "too fat."

After the mega brand SBE, who is also known for virtually creating Los Angeles and Hollywood nightlife, was contacted for comment, they responded "we don't comment on public matters that are legally pending."

Sounds like " mo' money, mo' problems" to me.

I don't think this is damaging for the mega brand SBE, if anything it's only translating the quality of service that they demand, to properly serve their high quality patrons.

MACY'S, AND HOW IT'S BRINGING BRANDS TO LIFE

I just have to blog about this. How Macy's lifestyle marketing campaign, featuring brands like, Tommy Hilfigure, Sean Johnn, Martha Stuart, and Jessica simpson, is breathing an innovative and fresh breath of air, into these mega brands.

This campaign, has been running for a while now, but Macy's most recent instillation featuring a real customer embarking on an in-store shopping experiance is the perfect impression in bringing these lifestyle brands in direct reference with there target audiance.

The Macy's campaign visually illistrates how the end user of these brands would feel, while both in the store, and functioning in there everyday life. Sounds like Sensory branding at its best.

The recent Macy's TV spot, shows the real life person, interacting with the faces of Mega brands, such as Tommy Hilfigure, Sean John, Martha Stuart, Jessica Simpson, and even Micheal kor's.

The commercial shows the customer trying on clothes from brands like Tommy Hilfigure, while being personally fitted by them. Then it shows the individual, whisking over to try on a pair of Micheal Cole's stelleto's, while being reminded by Jessica Simpson herself, to put on some perfume, as Jessica applys some of her new fragrance on the shopper right as she's off to start her day.

Every thing is so right about this commercial. It has enough star quality, it perfectly illistrates how an everyday person can interact, and even take home a piece of there favorite things, from some of there favorite celebrities.

It also incorporates visually stunning impressions, which gives you a taste of feel, sight, smell, and even sound.

These are the brands of the 21st Century, and this is how mega brands like these will have to communicate, in order to stay competitive, in this ever so changing landscape that is business. Even more specifically, building brands, that can, and will become houshold main-stay's, which trancends there original function.

Kanye's new art direction, has been said to have been prompted by the break up of his recent girlfriend.

With track's that include "Love Lockdown" and "heartless", two of the most recent singles from his album, kanye west let's the world know, he's still king, and he doesn't need a woman to raign supreme.

Airparty VS Dussault Apparel Inc.

AirParty Crew and owner Josh-Gray Emmer at the launch party of Dussault Apparel Inc. on Melrose.
